Unbelievable Man Was Turning Into Tree

A Bangladeshi father dubbed "Tree Man" for massive bark-like warts on his hands and feet will finally have surgery to remove the growths that first began appearing 10 years ago, a hospital said Sunday.
Abul Bajandar, 25, from Khulna, has been suffering from a disease known as Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis - a rare and inherited skin disorder - for the past seven years, as reported by DailyMail.
He was undergoing preparations for the surgery to cut out the growths weighing at least five kilogrammes (11 pounds) that have smothered his hands and feet.
treeman3
"Initially, I thought that they're harmless. But slowly I lost all my ability to work. There are now dozens of two to three inch roots in both my hands. And there are some small ones in my legs," said the 26-year-old Bajandar at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) who was forced to quit working as a bicycle puller.
The doctors of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital have formed a medical board of experts and will now decide about the treatment required for Bajandar.
Tests are underway to ensure Bajandar's root-like warts can be removed surgically without damaging major nerves or causing any other health problems. The massive warts, which first started appearing when he was a teenager but began spreading rapidly four years ago
Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (also called Lewandowsky-Lutz dysplasia), colloquially known as tree man illness is an extremely rare autosomal recessive genetic hereditary skin disorder associated with a high risk of carcinoma of the skin. It is characterized by abnormal susceptibility to human papillomaviruses (HPVs) of the skin. The resulting uncontrolled HPV infections result in the growth of scaly macules and papules, particularly on the hands and feet.
"Popularly it is known as tree-man disease," said DMCH director Samanta Lal Sen. "As far as we know there are three such cases in the world including Abul Bajandar. It is the first
time we have found such a rare case in Bangladesh," he said.
In order to inherit the disease two abnormal EV genes, one from each parent, must be present. No treatment has been found yet, though many treatments are suggested.
Some known cases of Epidermodysplasia verruciformis are, a Romanian man who was diagnosed with this same condition in 2007 and an Indonesian villager with massive warts all over his body underwent a string of operations in 2008 to remove them.
Bajandar's elder sister, Adhuri Bibi, said hundreds of people have visited their home in Khulna over the years to see the "Tree Man".
"Even here at the hospital, hundreds have already gathered," she said.
Bajandar, a father of one, said he tried cutting the warts when they first appeared, but it was extremely painful.
"After that I went to a village homeopath and herbal specialist. But those medicines only worsened my condition." He also consulted doctors in neighbouring India, but he and his family could not afford the cost of the operation there.

Pattern of Question Papers and Marking Scheme

All The Best

In all the papers, there will be a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of which 10 questions carrying a total of 15 marks are in General Aptitude (GA).
In the papers bearing the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PE, PI, TF and XE, the Engineering Mathematics will carry around 15% of the total marks, the General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining 70% percentage of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.
In the papers bearing the codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL, the General Aptitude section will carry15% of the total marks and the remaining 85% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.
GATE 2016 would contain questions of two different types in various papers:
(i) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. These questions are objective in nature, and each will have a choice of four answers, out of which the candidate has to mark the correct answer(s).
(ii) Numerical Answer Questions of 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. For these questions the answer is a real number, to be entered by the candidate using the virtual keypad. No choices will be shown for this type of questions.

Design of Questions

The questions in a paper may be designed to test the following abilities:
(i) Recall: These are based on facts, principles, formulae or laws of the discipline of the paper. The candidate is expected to be able to obtain the answer either from his/her memory of the subject or at most from a one-line computation.
Example
Q. During machining maximum heat is produced
(A) in flank face
(B) in rake face
(C) in shear zone
(D) due to friction between chip and tool
(ii) Comprehension: These questions will test the candidate’s understanding of the basics of his/her field, by requiring him/her to draw simple conclusions from fundamental ideas.
Example
Q. A DC motor requires a starter in order to
(A) develop a starting torque
(B) compensate for auxiliary field ampere turns
(C) limit armature current at starting
(D) provide regenerative braking
(iii) Application: In these questions, the candidate is expected to apply his/her knowledge either through computation or by logical reasoning.
Example
Q. The sequent depth ratio of a hydraulic jump in a rectangular channel is 16.48. The Froude number at the beginning of the jump is:
(A) 5.0 (B) 8.0 (C) 10.0 (D) 12.0
Examples of each of this design is given in the types of questions above.
The questions based on the above logics may be a mix of single standalone statement/phrase/data type questions, combination of option codes type questions or match items type questions.
(iv) Analysis and Synthesis: In these questions, the candidate is presented with data, diagrams, images etc. that require analysis before a question can be answered. A Synthesis question might require the candidate to compare two or more pieces of information. Questions in this category could, for example, involve candidates in recognising unstated assumptions, or separating useful information from irrelevant information.

Marking Scheme

For 1-mark multiple-choice questions, 1/3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-marks multiple-choice questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for numerical answer type questions.

General Aptitude (GA) Questions

In all papers, GA questions carry a total of 15 marks. The GA section includes 5 questions carrying mark each (sub-total 5 marks) and 5 questions carrying marks each (sub-total 10 marks).

Question Papers other than GG, XE and XL

These papers would contain 25questions carrying 1 mark each (sub-total 25 marks) and 30 questions carrying 2 marks each (sub-total 60 marks). The question paper will consist of questions of multiple choice and numerical answer type. For numerical answer questions, choices will not be given. Candidates have to enter the answer (which will be a real number, signed or unsigned, e.g. 25.06, -25.06, 25, -25 etc.) using a virtual keypad. An appropriate range will be considered while evaluating the numerical answer type questions so that the candidate is not penalized due to the usual round-off errors.

GG (Geology and Geophysics) Paper

Apart from the General Aptitude (GA) section, the GG question paper consists of two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A is common for all candidates. Part B contains two sections: Section 1 (Geology) and Section 2 (Geo-physics). Candidates will have to attempt questions in Part A and either Section 1 or Section 2 in Part B.
Part A consists of 25 multiple-choice questions carrying 1-mark each (sub-total 25 marks and some of these may be numerical answer type questions). Each section in Part B (Section 1 and Section 2) consists of 30 multiple choice questions carrying 2 marks each (sub-total 60 marks and some of these may be numerical answer type questions).

XE Paper (Engineering Sciences)

In XE paper, Engineering Mathematics section (Section A) is compulsory. This section contains 11 questions carrying a total of 15 marks: 7 questions carrying 1 mark each (sub-total marks), and 4 questions carrying 2 marks each (sub-total 8marks). Some questions may be of numerical answer type questions.
Each of the other sections of the XE paper (Sections B through G) contains 22 questions carrying a total of 35marks: 9 questions carrying 1 markeach (sub-total 9 marks) and 13 questions carrying 2 marks each (sub-total 26 marks). Some questions may be of numerical answer type.

XL Paper (Life Sciences)

In XL paper, Chemistry section (Section H) is compulsory. This section contains 15 questions carrying a total of 25 marks: 5 questions carrying 1 mark each (sub-total marks) and 10 questions carrying 2-marks each (sub-total 20 marks). Some questions may be of numerical answer type. Each of the other sections of the XL paper (Sections I through M) contains 20 questions carrying a total of 30 marks: 10 questions carrying 1 mark each (sub-total 10 marks) and 10 questions carrying 2 marks each (sub-total 20 marks). Some questions may be of numerical answer type.

Note on Negative Marking for Wrong Answers

For a wrong answer chosen for the multiple choice questions, there would be negative marking. For 1-mark multiple choice questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark multiple choice questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. However, there is no negative marking for a wrong answer in numerical answer type questions.

NASA's Curiosity Rover Clicks A Selfie On Mars

In its latest selfie sent back home, NASA's Curiosity rover shows the car-size mobile laboratory beside a dark dune where it has been scooping and sieving samples of sand.

The new selfie combines 57 images taken by the Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) camera at the end of Curiosity's arm.

The rover has been investigating a group of active sand dunes for two months, studying how the wind moves and sorts sand particles on Mars.

The site is part of Bagnold Dune Field, which lines the northwestern flank of Mars' Mount Sharp.

When the component images were taken, the rover had scuffed the edge of "Namib Dune" and collected the first of three scoops of sand from that dune.

During processing, an actuator in the sample-processing device did not perform as expected when commanded. This week, the Curiosity team is identifying possible reasons for the actuator's performance.

"The rover responded properly to this unexpected event. It stopped moving the actuator and halted further use of the arm and sampling system,Â" said Steve Lee, deputy project manager for Curiosity at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California.

One part of the dune investigation is to view the same location repeatedly to check for movement of sand grains caused by wind on Mars.

If movement occurs, the team can use the rover's wind measurements to figure out the strength and direction of the winds that caused the movement.

Researchers are evaluating possible sites for the next use of Curiosity's drill to collect rock-powder samples of the bedrock in the area.

Curiosity reached the base of Mount Sharp in 2014 after fruitfully investigating outcrops closer to its landing site and then trekking to the layered mountain

Nasa's New Horizons Probe Captures Pluto's Blue Atmosphere in Infrared

Nasa's New Horizons Probe Captures Pluto's Blue Atmosphere in InfraredNasa has released an image capturing the first look at Pluto's blue atmosphere in infrared wavelengths which was taken by its New Horizons spacecraft.
The photo captured in July last year was made with data from the New Horizons Ralph/Linear Etalon Imaging Spectral Array (LEISA) instrument.
In the image, sunlight is coming from above and behind Pluto while New Horizons was about 180,000 kilometres away.
The image covers LEISA's full spectral range (1.25 to 2.5 microns), which is divided into thirds, with the shortest third being put into the blue channel, middle third into the green channel, and longest into the red channel.
There is a blue ring around Pluto which is caused by sunlight scattering from haze particles common in Pluto's atmosphere, Nasa scientists said.
They believe the haze is a photochemical smog resulting from the action of sunlight on methane and other molecules, producing a complex mixture of hydrocarbons such as acetylene and ethylene.
These hydrocarbons accumulate into small particles - a fraction of a micrometre in size - which scatter sunlight to make the blue haze, scientists said.
The new infrared image, when combined with earlier images made at shorter, visible wavelengths, gives scientists new clues into the size distribution of the particles.
There are whitish patches around Pluto's limbs, which are sunlight bouncing off more reflective or smoother areas on Pluto's surface - with the largest patch being the western section of the informally named Cthulhu Regio, Nasa said.

ABVP Calls schools and Colleges Bandh

Students have planned to intensify their agitation against the decision of the Telangana state government to regularise contract employees.
Students, who are protesting on the Osmania University campus for the past 52 days, have called for “Telangana educational institutions bandh” on September 10 to press for their demands.
Students have been demanding immediate withdrawal of regularisation of contract staff and fill all the vacancies in the government departments by conducting recruitment exams.
Telangana Students and Unemployed JAC, comprising student organisations such as ABVP, TNSF, NSUI, MSF, GVS, BC students union, has been formed to intensify the agitation.
“Regularising contract staff will deny chance for meritorious students to secure government jobs. We have fought for Telangana all these years since we were deprived of jobs in the unified Andhra Pradesh. The TRS government is doing injustice again to Telangana students by regularising contract staff who secured jobs not on merit but on recommendations by political leaders. We will not tolerate this,” said J. Kalyan, chairman of JAC.
He urged the managements of all the institutions to observe bandh on September 10 and support their cause.

And most of the cases in engineering colleges the bandh depends on their management

Kohli's Pakistani fan(Umar draz) may get 10-year imprisonment for hoisting Indian flag

A Pakistani die-hard fan of Indian batsman Virat Kohli may get up to 10-year imprisonment after being arrested for hoisting the Indian tri-colour atop his home in Punjab Province which he had done to show his love for the cricketer.

22-year-old Umar Draz, a tailor by profession from Okara district of Punjab province, was produced before a district court on Wednesday who sent him to jail on judicial remand.

Draz was arrested on January 26 when India beat Australia in a T20 match and Kohli scored 90 runs. Police raided Draz home on a complaint that he hoisted the Indian flag on the rooftop of his house.

Police registered a case under section 123-A of Pakistan Penal Code and 16 Maintenance of Public Order against him.

The section 123-A (acts of damaging the sovereignty of the country) carries maximum punishment of 10 years in jail or fine or both.

Draz pleaded before the judge that he hoisted the Indian flag only for his love for Kohli.

Police had sought his physical remand for investigation into the case, however, the judge sent him to jail on judicial remand.

Earlier, talking to reporters Draz said: "I am a big fan of Virat Kohli. I support the Indian team because of Kohli. Hoisting of Indian flag on the rooftop of house only shows my love for the Indian cricketer."

He said he had no idea that he committed a crime, urging the authorities concerned to pardon him as he should be seen as "an Indian cricketer's fan."

Poster size photographs of Kohli were also found pasted on the walls of his house.

Police seized the flag and Kohli's posters and pictures.

Teachers strike at HCU over Rohith vemula's suicide

Hyderabad: Three teachers of Hyderabad Central University sat on a one-day hunger strike on Thursday demanding that Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao Podile be removed and in-charge VC Vipin Srivastava step down, in order to resume academic and administrative activities.
The protest by teachers comes a day after a second batch of students on an indefinite fast demanding justice for Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula, who allegedly committed suicide on January 17, were shifted to hospital following concerns over their health condition.
A teacher from the Osmania University also joined the protesting teachers in the fast on HCU campus under the banner of SC/ST Teachers' Forum and other concerned teachers.
Earlier, a group of seven students had also been taken to hospital following their deteriorating health condition.
The agitating students yesterday refused to hold talks with Srivastava, who came to the protest site.
They alleged that Srivastava was equally responsible for the "wrong affairs" and demanded that he step-down from the responsibility of interim VC.
Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee for Social Justice, spearheading the agitation over Rohith's suicide, said that students would intensify the "struggle" till all their demands are met.
Their demands include Podile's resignation, and also Srivastava's from the post of in-charge VC, "sacking" from Union Cabinet of HRD Minister Smriti Irani, employment to a family member of Rohith and Rs 50 lakh compensation to his family.
The selection of Srivastava as interim VC was earlier opposed by the students and SC/ST staff forums as they claimed he headed the Executive Council sub-committee whose decisions were "responsible for the death of Rohith" and that he was one of the accused in the death of another Dalit student in 2008.
Students of most universities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana yesterday boycotted classes in solidarity with the agitators as they sought "justice" for Rohith.

Now we can get Passport with In 7 days

The ministry of external affairs has announced two major changes that will fast-track the process for first-time passport applicants and make it more convenient to secure an appointment at the local passport seva kendra.

Citizens will be granted a fresh passport under the normal category in a week if their applications are accompanied by three documents - copies of Aadhaar card, electoral photo identity card (EPIC) and PAN card - besides an affidavit in the format of Annexure-I (declaration of citizenship, family details and no criminal record).

Until now, the process would take a month, with the police verification eating up a lot of time.

Police verification of such applications will be conducted after the passport is issued. There will be no extra charge for the service, a statement issued by the ministry said. The process is subject to online validation of the Aadhaar number while processing and an approval from the granting officer.
In addition, EPIC and PAN cards may also be validated, if required, through respective databases in real time, before the application is approved. Besides, passports may also be impounded and revoked later, in case of adverse police reports.

The idea of the upgrade is to liberalise the process without compromising on security, explained Anil Kumar Sobti, director of the passport division in the ministry. "There are plenty of inbuilt safeguards in our system which can instantly spot fake identities and forgeries. Most importantly, our system is linked to the Aadhaar database which helps conduct real-time verification of the applicant while s/he is still at the passport seva kendra," he said.

"We are trying to integrate EPIC and PAN cards as well. Additionally, the granting officer interviewing the applicant can use his discretion to extend or withhold the facility. Besides, the option of impounding or revoking the passport post issuance is always available and we have exercised it several times in 2015," Sobti said.

Hailing the change as an applicant-friendly initiative, Pune's regional passport officer Atul Gotsurve said, "A smooth rollout of the facility hinges on accurate and complete documentation furnished by the applicant.

"Adverse police reports can be avoided if applicants themselves play a pro-active role in their verification to ensure that it is completed within a month since the passport is issued. We will also institutionalise measures to prevent an increase in such cases."
